Juan Mora, MD, Assistant Professor and Medical Director at UF Health Pain Medicine Surgical Center, specializes in interventional chronic pain management, including spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation. Committed to educating future pain physicians, Dr. Mora integrates advanced minimally invasive procedures to enhance patient care. Passionate about neuromodulation's transformative impact, he collaborates with diverse experts at the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) to advance clinical boundaries.

Areas of Expertise:
Distinguished expert in interventional chronic pain management. His practice focuses on spinal cord, DRG, and peripheral nerve stimulation, as well as advanced minimally invasive pain procedures and educating Residents and Fellows.

Why I enjoy what I do:
As a pain physician, I am very fortunate to have the ability to positively transform the lives of our patients, improve their functionality, and allow them to return to their joyful activities. Doing this while simultaneously sharing knowledge and training the newer generations of pain physicians is immensely gratifying.

How I became interested in neuromodulation:
Neuromodulation has provided hope and relief to many of our patients who had no efficacious therapeutic interventions in the past. I was exposed to this as a fellow and it was fascinating how this field allowed us to combine the advancements in different fields such as technology, anatomy, physiology, and surgical techniques to manage some of our most complicated pain cases. During my fellowship, I witnessed the field of neuromodulation rapidly evolve with constant innovations, improved outcomes, and expanded indications and this is something that has continued over time.

I am a NANS member because:
The diversity of disciplines, backgrounds, and training of the members of this society is outstanding, it allows me to keep up with the latest innovations in neuromodulation and gives me the ability to discuss topics with engineers, physicians, scientists, psychologists, and many others.

My favorite book:
One Hundred Years of Solitude – Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Words to live by:
"A day without learning and laughter is a day wasted" – Albert Einstein and Charlie Chaplin (hybrid quote)
