Empowering Women Across Neuromodulation

Women in Neuromodulation (WIN®) aims to educate, inspire, and encourage women working in neuromodulation by promoting networking, leadership, and collaboration. The WIN Committee supports the growth of women in neuromodulation by developing resources, events, and programs that foster community and mentorship and increase diversity across the field.

Mission & Governance

Women in Neuromodulation (“WIN”) is structured to promote the common interests as it relates to the education, scientific/clinical achievement, and leadership of women in neuromodulation. The function of WIN is to:

  • Provide a forum wherein women in neuromodulation can consider, discuss and share current knowledge and information in the medical field of neuromodulation and related subjects.
  • Sponsor meetings, forums and educational seminars addressing neuromodulation and related subjects.
  • Sponsor the publication of written material in the field of neuromodulation and related subjects.
  • Develop and disseminate policy statements to heighten public awareness of issues associated with neuromodulation.
  • Enhance public and professional recognition of neurosurgery as a medical specialty.
  • Facilitate and enhance the role of women in neuromodulation through the above-specified and any other related purposes.
  • Advise the parent organization regarding issues concerning women as neuromodulation specialists.
  • Represent the parent organization, at their discretion, at meetings or conferences pertaining to matters related to neuromodulation, especially as related to women.

About the Program

A one-of-a-kind initiative led by WIN, the Mentorship Mastermind Program is designed to empower women across the field through meaningful mentorship, peer collaboration, and leadership development—open to women at every career stage, education level, and practice setting.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Career & leadership development with mentors who have walked similar paths.

Small-group format with 10–12 members per cohort.

Mentor-led check-ins every two months in 60-minute sessions.

A supportive community fostering personal and professional growth.

Guidance navigating challenges and building confidence in leadership roles.

Applications for the 2026-27 cohort are now closed.

Eligibility

Open to all women in neuromodulation across career stages, education levels, and practice settings. Applicants must be a current NANS member to participate as a mentee or mentor.

Lisa Stearns Award

TThe Lisa Stearns Award for Innovation and Leadership in Cancer Pain, established by NANS and Women in Neuromodulation (WIN), honors the legacy of Lisa Stearns, MD, by recognizing individuals who have advanced cancer pain care through innovation, leadership, mentorship, and excellence in cancer-related neuromodulation or research. Applications and nominations are now open through September 10, 2026.
