Advocacy

​A pillar of NANS' mission is advocacy. NANS advocates on issues in neuromodulation related to:
  • Patient access to care
  • Quality of patient care
  • Administrative burden
  • Health system structure, insurance and payment reform
  • Appropriate coding and reimbursement policies for neuromodulation
  • Novel indications and innovation in neuromodulation
 
Under the auspices of the Advocacy and Policy Committee, NANS regularly collaborates with agencies, organizations and companies, including:
  • CMS
  • FDA
  • Private insurers
  • State worker’s compensation boards
  • AMA House of Delegates
  • AMA CPT and RUC committees
  • Other physician organizations, including the Multidisciplinary Pain Workgroup
  • Patient organizations
  • Corporate partners

The Goal of NANS' Efforts

  • Protecting access to care via coverage policies
  • Working with other physician groups for benefit for our patients
  • Developing leadership expertise in neuromodulation advocacy among our members
  • Maintaining reimbursement so we can continue to deliver care
  • Promoting safe and effective utilization of neuromodulation therapies
  • Monitoring proactively for changes that affect our practices
