Residents and Fellows

Welcome to the NANS Residents and Fellows and Young Neuromodulators page! Here you will find resources dedicated to residents, fellows, students and young neuromodulators interested in or training in the field of neuromodulation. In addition to fellowship and job listings, we provide opportunities for education, conferences, and courses. We encourage you to become a member, get involved, and explore what NANS has to offer!

MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
About the NANS RFS Mentorship Program (applications now closed):

Purpose: The purpose of the Mentorship Program is to cultivate professional relationships between North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS) physicians within the field of Neuromodulation, to foster career development, and to enhance overall patient care and safety.

Objectives:
  • Improve Neuromodulation education and training to residents and fellows.
  • Cultivate research collaborations in the field of Neuromodulation.
  • Provide a resource for building a successful practice.
  • Provide a network for career opportunities.
  • Foster the development of mentees that will become future mentors in NANS.

Core Entrance Requirements:
  • For non-neurosurgeon trained physicians, one must be a current or recently graduated fellow in an ACGME accredited program in pain medicine.
  • For neurosurgeons, one must be a current resident or fellow in an ACGME accredited program.
  • Physicians must be current NANS members.

Program Details for Mentees: There will be an introduction virtual call with Resident, Fellow, Student (RFS) Commitee and Young Neuromodulators (YN) Committee to outline mentee expectations. Mentees will be encouraged to make one site visit during the year and meet to discuss pre-defined topics through a minimum of 6 virtual calls. Periodic surveys will also be sent to mentors and mentees regarding their experiences to optimize the mentor-mentee relationship. The 2025 Cohort will be announced Fall 2024.

EDUCATION AND RESOURCES
CLINICAL CASE SERIES
Please see below for eight clinical cases that have been created for the NANS Clinical Case Discussion Series. Although there may be some case by case variation by topic, each case follows a standardized format that is meant to highlight core educational concepts within neuromodulation that are relevant to Fellows and Residents in training. These cases were created by RFS board members as well as those Fellows participating in the Mentorship program. Each case was carefully reviewed and created in conjunction with a NANS faculty mentor.
