NANS Advocacy Results in HCSC Adding Closed-Loop Spinal Cord Stimulation to Coverage

This week HCSC (this includes BCBS in IL, MT, NM, OK and TX) announced that closed-loop SCS will be covered in its policy effective July 1. Previously, their draft policy had called the treatment experimental. NANS, together with other professional societies, had called on HCSC to reconsider its position, given the significant evidence validating closed-loop SCS as a treatment option for patients with chronic pain. NANS applauds HCSC for recognizing the necessity of patient access to this scientifically validated therapy.
